Panama Ship Registry,  worlds largest and leading registry has reached 100 years of service to the maritime industry

The Panama Flag Registry, which has been the  leading registry worldwide will mark its centennial on Dec. 15. In upcoming months, the Panama Maritime Authority has set forth a plan for various activities to enlighten the date through different awareness activities under the slogan ‘Panama’s 100 years of registering ships as a convenience flag, thus bringing together, ship owners, management companies, as well as officials from other registries to commemorate the occasion.

The Panama Ship Registry Centennial deserves special recognition, according to Panama Maritime Authority,  Jorge Barakat Pitty General Administrator and Director. The Panama Flag became the world’s leading flag since 1993 under the administration of the late Hugo Torrijos Richa, growing to levels that surpass 9,000 merchant, fishing, cruise  and & yachts registered, representing 18% of the global fleet.
