Scrapping ships or demolishing ships is a way to end the life of a ship. Involves the demolition and scrapping of the ship in parts, which can be melted, reused or sold as such. This activity is also called ship dismantling or ship recycling. Modern ships have a lifespan of between 25 to 35 years before the corrosion or fatigue of steel comes into play and thus become very costly operationally.
The demolition of the ship allows the stolen materials to be melted and reused. This activity helps the economy in the sense that it is not necessary to invest in making new steel, but that it is recycled in already existing and this is favorable to the commercial and ecological activity. Certain equipment on board the ship can also be reused. The demolition of ships is considered a dangerous work activity.
