The Russian government VEB Group will finance the construction of three additional oil tankers for the shipping company Sovcomflot, according to the country’s prime minister, Dmitry Medvedev.
Meanwhile, the bank provides RUB 10 billion (USD 152.7 million) financing for the three ships, which would transport light oil and gas condensate products in areas with difficult ice conditions, particularly in seas such as the Baltic Sea.
The announcement was made during a meeting of the supervisory board of the VEB Group, the loan will be executed through VEB-Leasing.
At the end of the meeting the president of the VEB Group, Igor Shuvalov, explained that the new oil tankers would be built according to the largest independent natural gas producer in Russia, called Novatek, and that they will have a price of USD 39.9 million per vessel.
