Under the goal of guaranteeing the freedom, honesty and efficiency of the popular vote during the general elections in Panama, a ceremony of transfer of the command of the public forces to the electoral tribunal took place.
The transfer is made six days before the elections, as established in article 287 of the electoral code, which says that they will be under the tutelage of the TE: the National Police, the naval service, the border service until the new president has been proclaimed
The president of Panama called on all candidates for elective positions to continue with a campaign of height and respect as it has been until now. He added that the atmosphere of peace that exists in the country is the product of the culture that we have sown during these five years in the country.
The director of the national police, Alonso Vega Pino, explained that there are approximately 25,000 units that will be available to the electoral tribunal
In coordination with the electoral tribunal and with the electoral delegates we have received during these 12 months training related to the elections and what are the procedures for each of the situations that may arise.
