On 9th of June, 2017, a 20,000TEU class Container Carrier, the largest in Japan and the largest type in the world, to be operated by Mitsui O.S.K. Lines Ltd., was launched at the Saijo Shipyard of the Imabari Shipbuilding Co., Ltd.

We are proud of her having container loading capacity of over 20,000TEU and huge hull of which dimensions are 400 meters length, 58.5meters breadth, and 32.9meters depth.

Various kind of energy saving technologies are adopted including energy saving devices such as energy saving rudder which improve the propulsive performance, also adopted latest type marine paint to the underwater part that reduces friction resistance in the sea water. In March 2015, we have built the first 14,000TEU class Container Carrier at our Hiroshima Shipyard, then the largest in Japan. Since then to date, we have piled our construction record of 14,000TEU class up to seven units. Now, we were able to launch the first of the world’s largest 20,000TEU class Container Carrier.
